Elections

 The First Colony Community Association (FCCA) Board of Directors governs the affairs of the Association and operates under the principles of Policy Governance.  The Board of Directors is a group of seven members, with three positions up for election for terms beginning in 2011.  The Board, in conjunction with staff, is responsible for participating in long range planning and develping goals for the Assocation.  Some other primary duties include:

  • Determining an annual assessment
  • Preparing and adopting the budget
  • Development of Association policy
  • Enforcement covenants
  • Maintaining Association commom areas

FCCA recognizes that volunteering time for a Board position is a major decision.  This is another excellent opportunity to become involved with the community and share in the decision making processes of FCCA. 

Board candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered by the Nominating Committee (made up of FCCA volunteer members):

  • Member of FCCA (resident or commercial)
  • No outstanding balance with FCCA
  • No current deed restriction violations

Members interested in becoming a Board candidate can obtain a Board application below.  Deadline for application is Friday, September 17, 2010 by 5:00 pm.

 The Nominating Committee will interview Board applicants in October (TBD).  Once the candidates are selected by the Nominating Committee the Asssociation will disseminate information to the voters.  In the November issue of the newsletter you will find an Election Guide.  This guide will include the nominees and a short biography to help the voter familiarize themselves with the candidates.  The guide will also contain information related to how members can vote.  This information will also be found here on the website.

This proecess is very important to the Association and homeowners alike.  The Board of Directors represents the members and makes decisions for the betterment of the community.
